The six PSOE groups of La Gomera have already finished their pre-election process for the elections to the Congress and the Senate on November 20, proposing the current president of the Cabildo, Casimiro Curbelo, as a candidate for the Senate for the Island.

The calendar established by this political formation was completed with the celebration this Tuesday of the local assemblies in the municipalities of Alajeró, Valle Gran Rey, Vallehermoso and San Sebastián, proposing also the island secretary and senator in the last legislatures. Curbelo resigned from his position last July after being arrested by the National Police for an altercation in a brothel in Madrid.

The decision of the four assemblies held this Tuesday is added to those recently adopted in the same sense by the groups of the municipalities of Agulo and Hermigua, which also proposed that Curbelo be the socialist candidate in the next elections unanimously.

These agreements will be debated by the Island Committee of the Gomeros socialists, which will meet on Thursday, September 22. This body, in turn, will submit the proposal to the Executive Committee and the Regional Committee, which will analyze it during the weekend.

The Secretary of Organization of the Gomero PSOE, Gregorio Medina, has shown his satisfaction stating that "it is demonstrated once again, the strength of our political formation and the high level of participation of the affiliates and militants in the respective local assemblies".

Medina Tomé confirms that "the decisions adopted by our groups are a fundamental element that insists on the need for Casimiro Curbelo to become the voice that represents La Gomera in Madrid." The socialist leader refers to "the achievements and the infrastructures that have been carried out with State funds on the Island".
