Alejandro Rodríguez González, has been elected tonight as the new secretary of the Local Committee of the Canarian Coalition in Tías, replacing Sandra Rodríguez, during the assembly held at the Socio-Cultural Center of Puerto del Carmen.
The assembly, like the previous six, was attended by the island secretary of the nationalist formation on the island, Migdalia Machín, who in her speech once again valued the exemplary nature of the renewal process of all the committees
municipal once the one of Tías is configured. "We have laid the foundations to face with guarantees the challenge of leading the change that Lanzarote urgently needs because neither the island nor its citizens can withstand the current deterioration at all
levels. Citizens expect a change of course from us, like the one we had to make in 2009 when the economic crisis was so pressing that our people did not see a way out of so much darkness. With everyone's help, we will do it again and in these months, with
the renewal of all the local committees of Lanzarote, I am convinced that we will be able to face those challenges to which I have referred with the necessary guarantees to achieve success."
The assembly was also attended by the Secretary of Organization of the Canarian Coalition in Lanzarote, Echedey Eugenio, the General Secretary of the Nationalist Youth of Lanzarote, Sara Bermúdez, as well as the local secretaries of Arrecife (Jacobo Lemes), Yaiza
(Mateo Ramón), San Bartolomé (Eduardo Díaz), Haría (Víctor Robayna), Tinajo (Luis Miguel Pérez) and Teguise (Olivia Duque).
The opening of the assembly was carried out by the outgoing local secretary, Sandra Rodríguez, who gave a tour of the management carried out during her term, although before she had an emotional memory for Rafael "Falo" Díaz, a prominent member of the formation
sadly deceased in 2019, whom she defined as "a valuable colleague who brought to our committee the true meaning of working as a team and making a group."
In the acknowledgments section, the outgoing local secretary also had words of praise for the general secretary of Lanzarote, Migdalia Machín, "for her tolerance, capacity for dialogue and understanding with whose support I have been able to count from the beginning
to the end of this term. You have all my respect and admiration." After taking a tour of the vicissitudes of the Local Committee of Tías over the last four years "with some leaders who are no longer even in our party but in other formations and who left us divided and weakened by their egos and grievances," Sandra Rodríguez reminded those present that despite everything "many of us have continued here, with enthusiasm, strength and desire to work for this Canarian Coalition project that seeks to defend the interests of Lanzarote," not hesitating to affirm that "in the coming years, the renewal that is taking place today will allow that following the criterion of working with responsibility and enthusiasm - the same that I had when I accessed the local secretariat of Tías in 2017 -
we will obtain good results in the next elections."
After analyzing the organic management of the Local Committee of Tías, Rodríguez had words of praise for the only nationalist councilor in the plenary of the City Council of Tías, Amado Vizcaíno, "with whom we have worked very satisfactorily, achieving
75% of the objectives set for the legislature." The outgoing local secretary positively valued the government pact reached with the Popular Party that allowed to give stability to the municipality and achieve some achievements that otherwise would not have been
possible and regretted that "we were only 10 votes away from obtaining a second councilor that would undoubtedly have allowed us to govern again."
After the vote of the new local committee and the designation of the new secretary that fell on the figure of Alejandro Rodríguez González, he addressed those present expressing his conviction that "a long and arduous road awaits us and it is something that could
worry me if it were not because I have a fantastic team, full of energy and desire to make the Canarian Coalition in Tías one of the main political forces in the municipality."
Rodríguez also expressed his desire "for the elections to come, to go down to the field and with the nobility that characterizes this party, fight for every vote, denounce every injustice, defend our ideas, and our plan for the future of this municipality, which
will get it out of the immobility and economic depression in which it is at the moment," as well as the hope of being able to "break that barrier of a councilor who, although he is the best councilor of all those who sit in the municipal plenary hall, the democratic arithmetic
indicates that it is not enough. We need more Amados Vizcaínos in the plenary hall of the City Council of Tías, and for that we have to be protagonists of municipal life because Tías needs a party that cares about its people, that knows how to listen, that puts itself in the shoes of the people who need it most, that makes the problems of the people their own in order to offer solutions."
After thanking his colleagues for their support in obtaining the position, the new local secretary of the Canarian Coalition in Tías addressed the electorate to remind them that "we are the Canarian Coalition and our strength lies in our people, our people, people to whom we would not forgive ourselves if we disappointed them. We will not do it. Trust us, we will not stop trying, we will not spare an ounce of effort, we promise that we will work tirelessly, which is the only thing that is not negotiable for us."
