Aderlan signs an agreement to implement a rural development program in Lanzarote

The Association for Rural and Fisheries Development of Lanzarote (ADERLAN) signed last Tuesday an agreement with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food Sovereignty of the Government of the Canary Islands to implement the strategies for local development Leader on the island. This initiative is part of the Strategic Plan of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).

This project is supported by the European Agricultural Guarantee Fund (EAGF), the Government of the Canary Islands and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, for the amount of 11.2 million euros for rural development in the Canary Islands, which has been signed with other local entities.

According to the press release sent this Thursday, the local action groups "will play a crucial role within the framework of this strategic plan, as happened in the previous program, the RDP, not only for their contribution to job creation, but also for diversifying the rural economy by supporting SMEs."

In addition, they have highlighted that the initiative allows "the appropriate use of natural resources, promote the transformation and marketing of agri-food products, contribute to the maintenance, conservation and recovery of heritage and increase the quality of life of rural areas through the improvement of basic services."

At the signing ceremony of the agreement and representing Aderlan was present at the event, chaired by Minister Narvay Quintero, the manager of ADERLAN, Mercedes Robayna, together with the rest of the presidencies of the groups of the islands. The Director General of Agriculture, Javier Gutiérrez, and the head of the FEADER Funds Management and Control Authority, Ricardo González, also participated in the event.
