Seven hundred athletes residing in different parts of the Canary Islands, Spain and Europe will disembark this week in the municipality of Yaiza to compete from 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 4 in the third edition of the K10 Xtreme Yaiza Bestial Race, in its 5 and 10 kilometer modalities.
This sporting event hosts the very tough open-field obstacle course arranged near the municipal cemetery and in the Plaza de la Alameda in the town of Yaiza. This was announced this Tuesday by the mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, the Minister of Sports of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Alfredo Mendoza, the Councilor for Sports of Yaiza, Ángel Lago, and the race director and manager of BeSport, Alfredo López.
Although the race management preferred not to give many details about the technical characteristics of the course to maintain the surprise factor, they did advance, according to the Consistory, that the circuit will be made up of "40 obstacles to compete in the opposite direction to last year". The K10 Xtreme Yaiza Bestial Race also has the incentive of being a scoring event for the World Championship and the European Obstacle Course Championship.
"Yaiza is already a benchmark municipality for sports tourism in the Canary Islands with national and international events such as the Xtreme Yaiza that focuses media attention next weekend," said the mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda.
The Minister of Sports of the Cabildo de Lanzarote endorsed the words of the southern president, stressing that "Yaiza continues to be the focus of island sports and demonstrates this with the calendar it offers."
"The Bestial Race is a prominent event for Yaiza due to the spectacular nature of the event, the significant number of participants who accept this tough challenge and the help it represents for projecting the image of our municipality, apart from the economic impact on the destination," said the Councilor for Sports, Ángel Noda.
The Xtreme Yaiza is the only evening event on the Bestial circuit of the Archipelago that ends at night, so from the City Council they predict that "there will surely be some more leisure surprises to complete this new integrating day promoted by Yaiza."
