Around 04.30 hours this Monday, the Civil Guard detected a boat that arrived on the north coast of Lanzarote in the area between Arrieta and Playa de La Garita (Haría). Once the search device for its occupants was activated, the Civil Guard located 12 immigrants scattered around different places near the arrival point of the boat.

This dozen immigrants are all men of Maghrebi origin, seven of them adults and five minors. Since dawn and with full daylight, several Civil Guard patrols are scouring the coastline and inland places near the town of Arrieta to try to locate the remaining occupants of the boat, whose number is unknown. The armed institute hopes that "probably throughout the next few hours the total number of detained immigrants will increase".

The second of the weekend

In addition, around 7:30 a.m. this Sunday, a boat was spotted by a thermal camera of the Civil Guard in Lanzarote, when it was apparently heading to the Haría area. The authorities intercepted the boat and confirmed that 27 men of Maghrebi origin were traveling in it, and it is estimated that half of them may be minors, although it is not known for sure because they are undocumented.

The Civil Guard maintained a device deployed in the area of the sighting, between Caleta del Mero and Orzola, while it was still at sea and barely 500 meters from the shore looking for a point to land.

Finally, they disembarked in Puerto Naos and the agents proceeded to arrest its occupants.
