The Yaiza City Council will deliver throughout this week 1,700 copies of the illustrated book "Yaiza and the ghost of Las Salinas" to all infant and primary school students in public and private schools in the municipality.
This work, starring the girl Yaiza, "is very rich in cultural content and values the work of human beings and their respectful intervention in the natural environment, while also extolling the life and work of the popular poet of Las Breñas, Víctor Fernández Gopar, El Salinero," said Óscar Noda, mayor of the town.
For his part, the Councilor for Culture, Daniel Medina, has indicated that this action has the purpose "of promoting the habit of reading among the youngest population while sowing interest in the knowledge of our closest culture", in line with the council's intention to reinforce reading plans in schools, with the aim of promoting the habit of reading at an early age.
"Yaiza and the Ghost of Las Salinas" will be officially presented next Saturday, September 24, and will include a program of workshops, stage performances and other recreational activities.
The Yaiza City Council previously published "Yaiza en el Rubicón" and "Yaiza y el camello de Uga", this last installment being the third part of the saga.
