The concert of the group Jóvenes Cantadores from Tenerife in Uga was a musical journey fueled by the cultural richness of the Canary Islands and the prolific Latin American creation that has in the merengue, son or salsa contagious rhythms that encouraged the public that filled this Friday the Municipal Market square. Raíces and Los Salineros de La Hoya closed the night of concert, enjoyment and integration organized by the Culture Area of the Yaiza City Council.
Jóvenes Cantadores began their performance playing heartfelt Canarian pieces until reaching a folkloric potpourri of the Archipelago with representative themes from different islands. Then, Elvis Sanfiel recalled, one of the vocalists of the group also known for presenting the television program Noche de Taifas, that just last May 28, as soon as they landed in Lanzarote to fulfill a performance, they came across the news of the death of Ico Arrocha, one of the great references of singing and folklore of the Canary Islands.
Well, Uga lived the tribute that Jóvenes Cantadores offered to Ico Arrocha interpreting the Isa del Uno in the middle of a shuddering ovation. The group lives up to its name: it is made up of very young musicians and singers, although most of them are seasoned in folklore from an early age in popular music schools, and that shows when expressing themselves on stage.
With only eight years of artistic life, Jóvenes Cantadores demonstrated in Uga the well-earned prestige in the Archipelago. The southern public gave a resounding approval to their presentation. Among the attendance were many young people, thus, the proposal of the City Council of Yaiza, emphasizes the Councilor of Culture and Youth, Daniel Medina, also becomes an activity to promote tradition and customs.
Jóvenes Cantadores did not stop surprising because after their folkloric tour they addressed themes from other latitudes such as 'De hombre a mujer', by Donato and Estefano, with the ability and talent to change terrain and, for example, musicalize lyrics by the poet, troubadour and minstrel Pedro Lezcano. Jóvenes Cantadores showed off their versatility and the public left delighted with the concert.
