Tías presented its trail route this Thursday. The new guide, which is made up of seven different routes that combine paths along the coast and others through the interior of the municipality. In total, seven routes, of less than 10 kilometers, "with the aim of facilitating accessible hiking for all Lanzarote residents, as well as for the tourists who visit us", explained the mayor of the municipality, Pancho Hernández during his speech.

For her part, the Councilor for Youth and Municipal Projects, Nerea Santana, stressed that "thanks to this new guide, we will have the opportunity to get to know our municipality in depth, through pleasant walks through unique landscapes, and learn a little more about our history and cultural heritage, since these trails pass through archaeological sites, maretas, churches, cisterns or cave paintings".

"This is a very exciting project", continues Santana, "which has had the invaluable collaboration of Julián Rodríguez, a great connoisseur and researcher of the municipality of Tías and Nacho Romero, a biologist and environmental educator, who developed and selected the routes that allow us to know our natural wealth".

Rehabilitation of roads "in disuse and abandoned"

Julián Rodríguez and Nacho Romero, authors of this network of trails, explained that "many of the old roads that have been rehabilitated to include them in this network of trails were in complete disuse and abandoned, and today, they are once again filled with walkers willing to discover curiosities and singularities of our environment, such as the rock carvings that exist in the El Quíquire ravine, the historical lava flows, natural water sources or the archaeological sites of Guardilama, one of the highest mountains in Lanzarote". "The seven routes through the municipality of Tías are duly signposted and show the heritage of our ancestors", points out the Consistory.

From the Tías City Council they have invited all nature lovers to participate in the first guided route by the biologist Nacho Romero, which will take place next Sunday, April 24, starting at 9 in the morning and whose departure will be from the teleclub of La Asomada. Walkers will have about 6 kilometers ahead to get to know a unique environment, as well as the caldera of the Guardilama mountain, where there are channels carved in basalt by the majos.

A "fundamental" tourist tool

"The new network of trails has been published in four languages, Spanish, English, German and French, becoming a fundamental tourist tool, since inland tourism is booming and, more and more guides of this type are being demanded", says the City Council.

The Councilor for Tourism, Amado Vizcaíno explained during his presentation that "this network of trails has been very well received at the different tourism fairs where it has been presented, such as at the ITB in Berlin or at the World Travel Market in London, being also the first guide to be published in French".

The guide can also be downloaded through the pages www.ayuntamientodetias.es and www.puertodelcarmen.com, and in KLM format for Google Earth, as well as other programs and applications. In addition to the different plans and technical data sheets for each trail, the guide also has a series of recommendations to take into account before and during the walk by the hikers.
