The Tías City Council wishes to express its deepest regret for the passing of Manuel Hernández Martín, which occurred on May 28, 2025, at the age of 70. Manolo Hernández, known as “El Pollo”, was a municipal worker from 1985 to 2020 and a prominent fighter of the Tías team.
Manuel was a very beloved and respected neighbor, whose career was marked by his dedication to work and his tireless commitment to the traditions of our municipality, especially with the local sport of Canarian wrestling, of which he was a staunch defender and passionate fighter.
His legacy remains alive in the memory of all those who shared moments with him inside and outside the ring, being an example of effort, humility, and dedication. “El Pollo” was a fighter for US Tías in the 70s and 80s, and he also served as the commander of the southern team and three seasons in Tao Cicar.
On behalf of the municipal corporation, we extend our sincerest condolences to his wife, children, grandson, siblings, and other family members and friends. May they find solace in the unforgettable memory of his life and work.
The funeral chapel is installed in the Tías Funeral Home, which will open its doors today, Wednesday, at 3:30 p.m. The funeral mass will be held on May 29 at 11:30 a.m. in the church of Tías.
