Impotence. This is what a resident of Lanzarote says she feels, who claims that she recently participated in an Imserso trip to Barcelona with residents of other Canary Islands, of whom there have subsequently been three positive cases of coronavirus, and that she has been denied testing despite having a fever.
In addition, she assures that there are two other women from Lanzarote who participated in the trip who are also experiencing symptoms and that only one of them has been told that they are going to be tested, although they have not yet been tested. "They are deceiving us, because they are not doing tests," says this woman, who feels "totally neglected." In this regard, it should be remembered that the Ministry of Health has already indicated that the most serious cases are being prioritized, pending receipt of the new kits to expand the number of tests that are carried out.
According to what this woman told La Voz, she returned to Lanzarote on Sunday, March 15, when the state of alarm came into effect. "I didn't wait for them to bring us back, I bought a ticket and came back on my own, but other colleagues stayed there," she explains.
After her return, she says that she began to feel that she "didn't feel like eating", that "everything hurt" and that she "had headaches", but that she thought it was "from being locked up". However, later, she points out that three travel companions, two from Gran Canaria and one from Fuerteventura, tested positive for coronavirus, one of them being "admitted to the Negrín". Thus, she points out that she began to worry and that, in addition, this Monday she had a fever of 38.2.
"They only told me to stay in quarantine"
After that, this woman says that she called the telephone number enabled by the Government of the Canary Islands. "I was from two to seven in the afternoon for them to assist me. And then, about 40 minutes of waiting, and it was cut off twice," she says. In addition, she assures that finally they only told her to stay "in quarantine" and that if she had more symptoms, that she saw that she was not breathing well, then go to the Hospital".
Regarding the other two women from Lanzarote who also participated in the trip, she points out that one of them also had a fever and went to the Hospital, but that "they only took an X-ray to see her lungs" and "sent her home". "And the other one called today, because she has a fever and diarrhea, and they have told her that they would stop by her house and activate the protocol, although I don't know," she adds.
"I'm fine today, but I think they should test us all, because we've been with infected people. What more symptoms do they want? We are also a high-risk group," questions this woman who, although in her case she is 58 years old, says that her companions are over 65.
