A journalist from Radio Televisión Canaria in Lanzarote suffered a "sexist attack" on Saturday when she was reporting live on the weather situation and "was surprised by an individual who kissed her without any consent." The aggression, which was reported to the police station, has been condemned by workers of the entity, by the Tenerife Press Association and even by the Minister of Equality of the Government of the Canary Islands.

"A second aggression, produced when trying to identify the author of the act, and that the reporter and her cameraman were able to avoid, highlights the intolerable conduct, worthy of condemnation, as well as the precarious conditions in which she was carrying out her work, so what happened should promote some corrective measure by those responsible for the Canarian public radio and television", says the Tenerife Press Association (APT) in a statement.

The APT expresses its solidarity "with the professionals who suffered this attack" and states that it trusts "that it will not happen again to the detriment of the informative integrity carried out by duly accredited professionals, much less when it is done live."

"We are fed up!"

"After the aggression suffered last night and going to the police station to report such a detestable event, our colleague Raque Guillán has returned to her job first thing in the morning to continue reporting. An example for everyone", Radio Televisión Canaria published on its Twitter on Sunday morning

Likewise, workers of the entity made public a statement in which, in addition to showing their rejection, they expressed their "incredulity and indignation" at what happened.

Similarly, the Minister of Equality, Diversity and Transparency of the Government of the Canary Islands, Sara Jiménez, made public her rejection on social networks. "This has just happened live. All my solidarity to the journalist and the workers of RTVC. We are fed up!".
