What are you going to offer in the concert you will give in Lanzarote?

I am going to present songs from my latest album "Feriado" and also from older ones like "Rive gauche Rio" and "Show motion Bossa Nova".

After your concert, the public of Lanzarote will enjoy the music of the Orquestra do Fubá, had you shared a stage with them before?

No. This will be the first time and I am very happy to have this opportunity.

You were nominated for a Latin Grammy with "Juventude/Show Motion Bossa Nova". What is the recipe for success?

There is no recipe for success. I think you have to work hard and have a little luck.

Feriado is your latest album. Several hip hop musicians have collaborated on it, and it merges different styles. Can bossa be mixed with all kinds of music?

Yes. What really matters are the songs. Bossa and any other genre can be mixed with everything from the moment we have good songs to sing.

How long have you been working on "Feriado"?

Approximately one year.

How is this album different from the rest?

Perhaps this album is the one that has all the versions of the artist: the singer-songwriter, producer, instrumentalist and interpreter of songs by other artists.

How or in what sense has the sound of your songs and you as a musician evolved?

I am always looking for the newest and what I had not done before in previous works.

You accompanied Gilberto Gil for more than 15 years and consolidated your career as a composer alongside Ronaldo Bastos. What memories do you have of these stages of your life?

The best memories. For me it has always been a great pleasure to be able to work with the greats. I continue to learn every day from the new stages, and I currently do so together with the new musicians with whom I work.

Brazil moves to Costa Teguise

The warm sound of bossa nova, the rhythms of batucadas and samba will be heard in Costa Teguise. The 5th Brazilian Music Festival Tensamba'2008 is coming, with stellar performances by Celso Fonseca and the Orquestra do Fubá. In addition, parallel activities will be held such as the meeting of batucadas, dance demonstrations or the launch of a market.

It was born five editions ago in La Laguna due to the fondness that the artistic director of Tensamba Producciones, Pedro Autuori and the manager Antonio Paiz, feel for Brazilian music. At first it was a local festival, and from the third edition it began to expand until in the fourth year, in addition to Lanzarote entering the program, it was also presented at the Casa de América in Madrid. This 2008 the stages are located in addition to Madrid, on the islands of Tenerife, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria. They have the support of the Government of the Canary Islands, the Hispano-Brazilian Foundation, the Embassy and a multitude of sponsors. "It has become a cultural reference", determines the artistic director.

The festival will take place on Friday 23 and Saturday 24, concentrating its proposals on Saturday. Thus, on Friday at the presentation party DJ Dub Maia, DJ Markes and DJ El Espacialista will perform in the Pueblo Marinero at 11:00 p.m. On Saturday, the meeting of batucadas (6:30 p.m.) and the Capoeira demonstrations (9:00 p.m.) will precede the concerts that will be held from 10:30 p.m. First Celso Fonseca, composer, arranger and producer will take the stage. Bossa nova is the style that marks his music and transmits it full of sophistication and new rhythms. Afterwards, the Orquestra do Fubá will take over from Celso Fonseca. It was created in 2002 and integrates brilliant Brazilian musicians from Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, and also incorporates two French instrumentalists. It is part of the musical tradition of the festivals of the Brazilian northeast, feeding on influences such as bossa nova, samba, funk, ska and jazz.

With the DJ Session of Rodolfo Poveda and DJ Markes, this festival that began on April 25 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and that aims to transfer a sample of Brazilian sounds to the Canary Islands will close in Lanzarote.
