The voices of the public come together to sing in honor of Bob Marley

The atmosphere that developed around the concert of The Original Wailers on Friday night hinted at the admiration and affection that the people of Lanzarote and residents of the island have for the legendary Bob Marley. On the occasion of the Rastafarian concert, led by Marley's former guitarists Anderson and Junior Marvin, the fairgrounds and its surroundings were transformed into a stage of drums, dances, smiles and meetings that enveloped the hundreds of attendees who gathered in Arrecife.

There, the interpretation of hymns such as "Movement of Jah people", "Everything´s gonna be all right", "Stir it up", "Get up, stand up", "Rastaman vibrations" or "No woman no cry" managed to unite the participatory public in a general movement in which only raised hands, dance steps, choruses and smiles existed.

During the two and a half hours that the performance of Bob Marley's followers lasted, the public did not stop jumping, singing, hugging, and even shouting in gratitude at the end of each song. Far from interpreting their own songs, the reagge group focused its repertoire on the most mythical themes of Marley and that was the key that allowed the musicians to enter the hearts of all the attendees.

One after another they were chaining well-known songs by the public, who did not stop singing a single one of them. And when everyone thought that the unique and unforgettable performance had come to an end and demanded an encore with incessant shouts, the group returned to the stage to offer the public the icing on the night: "Redemption song"; song that they took advantage of to make the drum, guitar and chorus solos to perpetuate the smile of their fans until they arrived home.

Operation "Union", present in the themes of the opening acts

Those in charge of warming up the engines were the members of Cumbia Ebria, a local group. And, far from offering music similar to that of the protagonists of Friday night, they sang songs whose theme was related to the current affairs of the island. Thus, the protagonists of some of their lyrics were Dimas Martín, Alfredo Rodríguez and the members of the U.C.O. This theme aroused the laughter of the attentive public who applauded the chorus "the sentences of the PIL are dictated by a judge".
