Tinajo is already celebrating. The Timbayba musical cultural group kicked off the festivities on Friday night, in an act full of Canarian flavor, of Tinajero flavor.

"Twenty-six years of musical trajectory preserving our traditions, symbols of identity as a people and contributing to the dissemination of cultural values have been," according to the Councilor for Festivities of the Tinajo City Council, Raquel Cabrera, "more than enough reasons for the entire municipal corporation of Tinajo to decide this year to grant the Group the honor of being the official town criers."

The mayor, Jesús Machín, also wanted to dedicate a few words of gratitude for the work carried out in the municipality and took the opportunity to address the residents, apologizing for the "austerity" of the festivities, due to the general economic situation, although he insisted that "they are days of celebration" and, therefore, "of meeting and joy", so he invited all residents and visitors to participate in the festivities.

For its part, the group filled the stage with color and music. With the help of its two representatives, María Belén Tejera and Ricardo Toribio, they reminded those present that "during the history of Lanzarote, music and dances were a reason for distraction and company in the hard work of the countryside."

They also had words of recognition for the Ranchos de Pascua and other folk groups that participate in the dissemination of the traditions of the archipelago, highlighting the value of "family around the Canarian identity."

After the emotional reading of the proclamation, the group performed the musical theme from their album in honor of San Roque, which is entitled "San Roque Noble pastor", and received gifts from the corporation in remembrance and gratitude for accepting the responsibility of being the town criers of this year's festivities.

To conclude the event, the Tinajo Municipal School of Music took to the stage offering a cheerful repertoire of their work, to the sound of the public's applause.
