The Titerroy Neighborhood Association, chaired by Ismael Montero, has presented a total of 1,589 signatures in the Arrecife City Council registry, demanding that the mayor "comply with his own municipal ordinance, and proceed to order the removal of two mobile phone antennas installed in the Titerroy neighborhood".

For Ismael Montero, now everything depends on the will of the mayor of Arrecife, who has to enforce the ordinance approved in Plenary on May 26, 2006.

At the same time, the neighborhood leader demands, as he has repeatedly done to the mayor of Arrecife, that a technician or the councilor in charge of New Technologies meet with the neighbors and "show their faces once and for all." Montero insists that "the neighbors request information and know what procedures are being carried out from the City Council and how long they will take. Procedures cannot be carried out secretly from the citizens".

After more than eight years of claims, Ismael Montero assures that "if we do not have a response and the affected neighbors are informed throughout this month, this association will take legal action against the City Council". Something that, according to Montero, "is not pleasant at all, since in the end it will be an expense to be made by the institution with the money of the citizens of this city, but we have no other choice."

Ismael Montero expresses his complaint because the residents of the area have been suffering for eight years and nothing is done about it from the institution. "The least that could be done is to inform the neighbors about what the City Council is planning to do about it," says Montero, who also points out that "the indifference of the City Council shows that it puts the interests of companies before public health."

Specifically, the Titerroy Neighborhood Association has denounced two antennas, one located on José Pereyra Street and the other on Onésimo Redondo Street, which "do not comply with the minimum distance required with educational centers, which is 200 meters". In addition, Montero assures that "they do not comply with anything, because they do not even have permission".

Ismael Montero assures that "these 1,589 signatures will not be the only ones they present", since the Titerroy Neighborhood Association is collecting more signatures throughout the city of Arrecife to present them in December, in case the City Council continues without acting.

Finally, Ismael Motero, in his letter of complaint, points out the possibility that the Arrecife City Council may have incurred, during the processing of the antenna file (which dates back to 2000), "in an alleged crime of prevarication." In addition, the document details that in any case "the installation violates the Health Protection Law in terms of radioelectric emissions."
