The residents of San Bartolomé offered their best products to the Holy Patron during the traditional pilgrimage, which was held on Saturday, starting at 6:00 p.m. The pilgrimage departed from the vicinity of the institute and traveled along Alcalde Antonio Cabrera Avenue and Rubicón and San Simón streets to end in the church square.
There the pilgrims, very well dressed for the occasion, received the Holy Patron. The typical costumes gave great visibility and color to the event. For example, the mayor of the municipality, María Dolores Corujo, who participated for the first time in the pilgrimage, wore a typical Lanzarote costume from the 18th century. The first mayor was accompanied by councilors from her government group and also from the opposition.
In this pilgrimage there was also no shortage of decorated carts with different Canarian motifs. Music and dances were also present with the groups and parrandas, who were in charge of singing the most popular themes of Canarian folklore.
When the pilgrims arrived at the church square, where San Bartolomé was waiting for them, they offered the patron saint their products, which were destined for the neediest families. Once the pilgrimage was over, the image of the patron saint returned to the interior of the church and the pilgrims said goodbye with cheers and applause.
Immediately afterwards, the Baile del Romero began, with a popular barbecue that lasted for several hours, to the enthusiasm of the neighbors.
