The ninth edition of the Educational Film Festival, ‘Cinedfest’, has managed to bring together 18 centers in Lanzarote. At the national level, it has managed to have 286, of which 192 are Canarian.

In total, 475 Canarian teachers participate this year and in the contest, in addition to the participation of prestigious universities including the Universities of La Laguna, Salamanca, Barcelona and Valencia.

‘Cinedfest’ is an audiovisual project that promotes “the active participation of the educational community through an audiovisual and training festival” that tries to bring audiovisual language closer to students “who live the experience of cinematographic creation in the first person”

In this initiative, a total of 170 classes will be taught, which can be face-to-face or online, in which Canarian students will be instructed “in the basic rudiments of how to shoot a 7-minute short film”. This 2021-2022 academic year will be the academic year in which the most classes will be taught of the 9 editions of the festival.

“We continue to maintain face-to-face attendance at 75%, which is a great joy for us”; says the co-director of the film contest, David Cánovas.

“Our objective is to encourage the creative side of students and instill the seed of ideas of the seventh art, and get them interested in the cinematographic profession”, says Cánovas, who emphasizes that this edition is loaded with novelties, such as “the implementation of the Documentary category, the curricular correspondence in most educational levels, the film matinees and essential support documents in several languages for foreign students”.

The more than 90 ‘Cinedfest’ awards are maintained, where the Cabildos of Tenerife, Gran Canaria, La Palma and Fuerteventura will present their special awards.
