The town of Yaiza experienced this Friday a fascinating night of pure rhythm and Latin flavor cheered on by the spectacular performance of the singer, composer and arranger of Puerto Rican origin, Tonny Tun Tun, who shone on stage offering merengue hits of all time and recently produced songs that continue to keep him as an international artist of the highest level. The groups Kandela, Leyenda Joven and Mamboriko rounded off this meeting of drums and metals at the end of summer organized by the Yaiza City Council through the Department of Festivities directed by Javier Camacho.
Tonny Tun Tun released a large part of his "arsenal" with top songs such as 'Cuando acabe el placer', 'Fiebre', 'Sábado en la noche or 'Si tú te vas', all written and produced by him, also giving away his latest hit 'Esa boquita', a traditional merengue that saw the light just two months ago with the accompaniment of the reguetonero J Álvarez.
And to finish driving the Plaza de Los Remedios crazy, Tonny marked one of the most demanded songs by his fans, 'Noche de copas', which although not of his authorship, is one of the most listened versions for that particular swing of tun tun that the moreno imprints. At the request of the audience, he had to repeat it to close his performance in Yaiza.
The Puerto Rican, former trumpeter of the group Manía, is a complete artist and trained in conservatory, hence his musical connection and collaborations to great and recognized talents of Latin America such as Elvis Crespo. His forte is merengue, despite not being a 'Dominican boy', but he has also sung and produced salsa and reggaeton, among other musical genres. In the Plaza de Los Remedios he performed 'A poca luz', a fusion of merengue and reggaeton that was liked in Yaiza.
The end-of-summer merengazo, presented by the Latin voice of Claudia Claros, began at nine o'clock at night with dj Ale Ossorio, who warmed up the atmosphere as a prelude to the invited groups. First Kandela from Fuerteventura landed, three girls and two boys who performed merengue, bachata and cumbia; then came the stellar performance of Tonny Tun Tun, and Leyenda Joven and Mamboriko finished off.
Leyenda Joven is a group from Gran Canaria with 10 years of life that covered very recognized Latin songs. In Yaiza they gave away the merengue 'No puedo olvidarte' and the cumbia 'Quédate conmigo', both produced by the house included in the cd that they have just released. Mamboriko is an orchestra from Lanzarote of thirteen musicians that combines bachata, merengue, cumbia and salsita. The public of Yaiza enjoyed seven hours of continuous music for the delight of young and old.
