A year after the March against sexist violence that brought together hundreds of thousands of people in Madrid, the feminist movement is once again calling for mobilizations to demand that the "eradication of sexist terrorism be a matter of state."

According to a manifesto, "we have had a government in office for almost a year, a government insensitive to violence against women. For this reason, we believe it is essential that, as soon as possible, the majority of deputies urge the government that may be formed to demand the eradication of sexist violence and that this be a State issue that transcends partisan disputes. An agreement that takes into account the Istanbul Convention and the recommendations of the CEDAW so that all forms of violence against women are reflected, including sexual assaults."

In the summer of 2016, tens of thousands of people demonstrated against sexual assaults, mainly at local festivals, while the police assessment of the Risk of Violence against Women (VioGen) reduced the number of victims it protected from 31,691 in 2010 to 16,613 in 2015. It is time for public authorities to respond to this new social awareness and allocate sufficient budget items to combat gender violence, which in the last six years has been reduced by 11 percent.

Resources and a fight that, in the opinion of 7N Against sexist violence, must include both violence in the couple (or ex-partner) as well as sexual assaults, sexual harassment in the workplace, trafficking for the purpose of exploitation of women and girls and all sexist violence. Let us not forget that nearly half and a half of women have suffered sexual violence at some time, 29% before the age of 18, which requires public authorities to have an Action Plan aimed at families, the world of work and classrooms, which must be accompanied by the repeal of the LOMCE because it consolidates an education without equality and continues to protect discrimination against women.

7N Against sexist violence also recalls that the media must contribute to generating a new informative climate, making visible the different sexist violence and avoiding sensationalism and sexist language. On the other hand, we believe that imposed joint custody should be eliminated and the visitation regime and parental authority over minors to convicted abusers should be eliminated.

For all these reasons, on Monday, November 7, at 6:00 p.m., concentrations are called in several cities of the country to denounce violence against women and demand that public authorities and all political formations make the eradication of terrorism sexist a matter of state. In Lanzarote it will be in the Cabildo Viejo on Calle Real in Arrecife.
