The Irish community in Lanzarote has started the year mourning the loss of one of its compatriots on the island. It is Gilbert Brown, the owner of an Irish pub, who passed away on January 10th on the island.

Gilbert Brown, although born in Ireland, had settled in Lanzarote, where he managed The Spinnaker Bar and Restaurant, a pub located in the tourist town of Puerto del Carmen, in Tías, where there is a large Irish community

According to his children's social media reports, Brown passed away on the morning of January 10, the same day that marked his **52nd anniversary** with his wife, Hazel. "We find comfort in believing they are together again," the family stated on social media.On January 12th, his family invited loved ones from Lanzarote to bid farewell to Brown's body at a wake held at Mémora. Afterwards, it was announced that his body would be repatriated to the Irish city of Donegal.In the meantime, the bar will remain closed until further notice.
