The Cabildo of Lanzarote culminated this Thursday the extension works of the school Ecocomedor of the CEIP Capellanía del Yágabo, located in the capital of the island.
In this way, from the Cabildo they point out that the facilities now have "completely renovated" furniture, with expanded infrastructures and better services for the benefit of students and their families.
The project had an investment of 42,693 euros, from ERDF funds, through the Conurban Azul Strategy of EDUSI Lanzarote, and the objective has been "to promote the 'Ecocomedores' program in this educational center, providing the best conditions for boys and girls and the staff of the same."
The Councilor for Public Works, Alfredo Mendoza, expressed his satisfaction for the culmination of the works, "given the importance of these facilities for the students and so that the commitment to quality food of the 'Ecocomedores' project can continue to consolidate."
"This is an extension that represents an increase in the capacity to respond to the needs of the educational community, in terms of the increasing demand from families for the dining service due to family reconciliation needs," said the councilor.
"We must promote the necessary conditions to favor the most vulnerable families, with the dining room playing a fundamental role in this type of social interventions. Part of the student body due to economic difficulties may show food needs, so it is necessary to expand the number of diners so that the waiting list with which the CEIP has disappears and provide furniture to that extension," added Mendoza.
With the end of the actions, the Cabildo details that the school will now have "40 specific tables for the dining room, 200 chairs, 500 self-service trays, a cabinet with sliding doors, a cold tub furniture with reserve, a table with buckets for cutlery and a sink, among other improvements."
