The Security and Emergency Consortium is going to open registration for a third basic training course for aspiring Civil Protection and Emergency volunteers. As detailed by this body dependent on the Cabildo, it has been decided to reopen registrations due to the high demand for this training.
The first batch of future volunteers began their training this Monday, June 20 at the Consortium headquarters, while the second will do so on July 18 and the start date for the third will depend on the pace of registrations.
The course is divided into two blocks. A first one of 21 hours, which the candidates will carry out during 7 days in the afternoon, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.; and a second block of 9 hours that they will complete with practices in the different municipal groups. From the Consortium they indicate that those interested can submit the application at the Consortium headquarters in the Argana Fire Station. Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis.

The course taught by Benjamín Nieves Delgado, technical instructor in emergencies and civil protection, is aimed at aspiring civil protection volunteers who wish to join the various local civil protection volunteer groups. The authorization of the corresponding administration of its mayor-president; delegated councilor or technician for the processing of the application will be necessary.
During the training, the candidates will be trained in the basic knowledge that qualifies them as volunteers and provides them with a general vision of the Civil Protection system in all its breadth; "with special emphasis on the knowledge of the important altruistic work of volunteering and its great social impact", highlights the Consortium.
The course program, which is divided into seven days, will train candidates in first aid in health emergencies; basic notions of psychosocial assistance; basic notions of self-protection, transmissions; or evacuations.
