The children enjoyed their carnival in San Bartolomé this Sunday. A large number of children participated showing off their best costumes. The events began at 4:00 p.m. with makeup and carnival hat workshops. The costume contest began at 6:00 p.m.
While the jury deliberated, the two children's musical groups from the municipality, Guacimetitos and Retoñitos, performed, giving their best on stage. All these events took place in the Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente park.
The jury of the costume contest was made up of Albania Rodríguez Melián, Isabel Rocío Luzardo, Eva María González Jiménez and Ana Pérez Luzardo, as president without voice and without vote. They were in charge of choosing the winners of the three prizes in the individual, couple and group categories.
Thus, in the individual category, Yumalay Tabares Avero won, with her fantasy "Princess of the fairies of the forest". The second prize went to Sury Gillén, with the design "Bag", and the third to Paola Yong Francisco, with "Cupid".
In the couples category, Danisel and Yumalay Tabares won with "Aladdin and Princess Yazmin", while the second was for Davinia and Zulema Tejera Rodríguez with "Hindu Princess". The third went to the couple formed by Oswaldo Cejas and Andrés Corujo with the fantasy "Musketeers".
In the group category, one formed by 13 people who wore the fantasy "Las Meninas de Agatha Ruíz de la Prada" won. The second prize went to another group made up of 11 people under the design "Bingo", and the third prize was taken by eight people who wore the design "Bollywood Stars".
The awards were presented by the mayor, María Dolores Corujo, and the Councilor for Festivities, Aurea Mauri. Mauri thanked the children for their participation in the workshops and in the contest, where they showed off the best fantasies.
