The General Directorate of Emergencies, based on the prediction of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), has lowered the alert situation for strong wind and waves to pre-alert in Lanzarote.

In the case of wind, the pre-alert will come into effect at 12:00 this Friday, while that of coastal phenomena has already done so at 11:00 this morning.

The wind will blow from the northeast, moderate to strong and with probable very strong gusts, with an average speed of between 30 and 50 kilometers per hour with locally stronger intervals between 50 and 60 on the southeast and northwest coast of the islands with greater relief. There is a probability of very strong gusts that will reach or exceed 60 or 90 kilometers per hour.

Regarding the state of the sea, both this Friday and Saturday there will be combined seas that will probably reach or exceed 3 or 4 meters in height. On Saturday there will be a strong swell to rough seas that will decrease to a strong swell in the second half of the day, and swell from the north and northwest of 1.5 to 2.5 meters.

In addition to Lanzarote, the pre-alert for wind also affects the islands of El Hierro; La Palma (Garafía, El Paso, Fuencaliente and Villa de Mazo); La Gomera; Tenerife (Macizo de Teno, Teide National Park, San Miguel, Granadilla, Arico, Fasnia, Güímar, Arafo and Candelaria); Gran Canaria (Gáldar, Agaete, Artenara, La Aldea, Tejeda, San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Agüimes, Ingenio and Telde) and Fuerteventura.

For its part, the complicated situation due to the strong waves similarly affects Fuerteventura, La Palma, the north coast of Tenerife, the north and east coast of Gran Canaria, and the north and west coast of El Hierro and La Gomera.
