The Arrecife City Council paid an emotional tribute to Francisco José Navarro, "an illustrious resident of Arrecife who has worked for all these years at the island's leading radio station, Radio Lanzarote, for the capital of Lanzarote," said the city's mayor, Eva de Anta, in her speech. The event was held on Saturday night in La Recova in the middle of the performance of the Toñín Corujo Quartet before hundreds of people who wanted to join the well-deserved tribute.
The night began with the group's performance and after the second song, Mayor Eva de Anta took the stage to dedicate a few words to Francisco José Navarro, praising his work from the media. "From the radio with programs like Calle Real and others he has contributed to the improvement of this city." "Also in all these years he has presented countless events, in which he has always helped not only in the task of presenting but also helping in the teaching of protocols for each occasion." Immediately afterwards, Francisco José Navarro took the stage, who was moved and wanted to thank the City Council for this tribute. "In life I have only done more than work, in something that I like." "In the seventies I managed to enter Radio Lanzarote at the hands of Agustín Acosta, who always gave me freedom to do the programs I wanted." "Also I have always wanted to help the most disadvantaged associations and groups on the island," said Navarro.
Mayor Eva de Anta and the Councilor for Festivities, David Duarte, presented him with a plaque and other gifts, and the presidents of the Sociedad Democracia and Los Buches also took the stage, thus joining the tribute.
Many were those who wanted to accompany the Radio Lanzarote announcer on this occasion. Navarro was accompanied by his entire family, his wife, children and grandchildren, but also among the public were presidents of associations such as Carmen Arrocha from Afol, Nieves Rosa Hernández from Mararía. Also presidents of neighborhood associations such as José Cruz from Valterra. On behalf of the city council, the Deputy Mayor, Rafael Juan González, and the councilors David Duarte and Vicky Sande were present at the event.
