The Department of Equality and Immigration of the Arrecife City Council, Maite Corujo, has announced the launch of a Purple Point in Agramar during the Carnival celebration in the capital. Specifically, the city council has established a point of attention to gender violence and sexual assaults during this Saturday and next Monday.
The Purple Point will be present during the days of greatest influx of people at the Carnival. For this, the following dates and locations have been established:
- Saturday, February 10: Youth Carnival, from 6:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., at the Agramar venue in Puerto Naos, near the main entrance of the event (next to the Civil Protection hospital).
- Monday, February 12: Musical Space of the Coso (Agramar), from 8:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
In addition, it will have a team of specialized professionals and the contact telephone number 696 288 333 will be operational throughout the service, available both for professionals and for those who require assistance or information.
The Councilor for Equality and Immigration, Maite Corujo, points out the importance of this service, which she defines as "a fundamental tool in our work to build safe and respectful parties. We want this to be a space for support, prevention and awareness."
The initiative is financed by the Secretary of State for Equality and against Gender Violence of the Ministry of Equality, through the Funds of the State Pact against Gender Violence, destined to carry out projects and programs aimed at the prevention and eradication of gender violence by local entities.
