The Teguise City Council celebrated this Wednesday at the Meliá Salinas Hotel a new edition of the Costa Teguise Friends Cocktail which, on this occasion, on the occasion of World Tourism Day, hosted the presentation of the Teguise Distinguished Tourism Awards.

The mayor, Oswaldo Betancort, thanked "the enormous response of all those attending an event that was born with the philosophy of joining forces, and even more so in such a delicate moment for Lanzarote and for the tourism industry", and celebrated the fact that "the demand for tourism enjoys perfect health, and that we continue to be one of the preferred destinations for the British".

"I am convinced that everyone here is rowing against the tide to save the numbers and to safeguard jobs, because they are prepared for what is to come, and because we must not give up on the positioning of this region, of this community, and of course, of the destination that brings us together today, which is Costa Teguise," he said.

In this new edition of the Costa Teguise Friends Cocktail, held after a Working Table with different tourism agents, the professional work of the car rental company, Autos Famara, was also recognized; the career of Benito González as Head Chef of the Meliá Salinas Hotel; and the taxi drivers' union. "They all play a vital role in keeping our main economic engine running, and in ensuring that Costa Teguise continues to show an impeccable image to those who visit us," concluded the mayor.
