Students from Nazaret school will participate another year in the World Robot Olympiad

A total of 12 students from the Arrecife educational center will go to the competition, where they will have to build an innovative robot that overcomes a challenge.

The Robotics team of the Santa María de Los Volcanes-Nazaret school (Arrecife) will participate, as it has been doing in previous years, in the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) competition, which will be held in La Candelaria (Tenerife) on June 24, 2017.

A total of 12 students will participate in the championship in different categories: Football (13 - 16 years old), Open Junior (14 - 15 years old), Regular Elementary (11 years old) and Regular Junior (12 years old). In it, the students, with the guidance of a mentor, must build an innovative robot that overcomes a challenge, so that with it they "learn and demonstrate their problem-solving skills while developing personal skills." The competition also offers young people, according to the center, "an opportunity to approach technology and engineering in a playful and fun way."

A regional competition that also gives way to the national competition, which will be held in Alicante. If they also pass this phase, they will be able to enter the International phase, which will be held in Costa Rica.

The Santa María de Los Volcanes-Nazaret School has been offering Robotics as an extracurricular activity for several years, from 1st year of Primary Education to 4th year of Secondary Education, and curricular framed in the subject of Technology in Secondary Education, in 5th and 6th year of Primary Education and in 5-year-old Infants. Therefore, the center has pointed out that "it has a large number of students involved in this activity, thus managing to awaken interest and enthusiasm for Technology."
