The Official Gazette of the Province (BOP) of Las Palmas has published this week the announcement calling for grants for the creation of sports schools in the municipality of Tías that carry out their activity in the 2022/2023 season. The deadline for submitting applications ends on December 22 for the first selective procedure.

Sports entities that are registered in the Registry of Sports Entities of the Government of the Canary Islands and that also have their registered office in the municipality of Tías or that, being from another different municipality, carry out the activity subject to the subsidy within the municipality because there is no club that can carry it out, may be beneficiaries of this subsidy.

The purpose of the grant awarded will be the financing of actions, programs or projects whose purpose is the promotion, initiation and promotion of sports through technical sports initiation schools in the municipality of Tías and that correspond to the period from September 2022 to May 2023.

From the 2023 budget, the estimated maximum amount of the subsidy called will be 225,000 euros, being conditional on the existence of adequate and sufficient credit at the time of the resolution of the concession. In addition, grants may be awarded for an additional amount of 100,000 euros without the need for a new call and with certain requirements.

A second announcement was also published on grants to athletes and clubs that have to participate in official competitions at the regional, national and international levels during the current season.

The trips that may be subject to a grant will be established based on the official competition in which they participate and must meet certain conditions. In the case of team trips, they will have to participate in competitions in which the classification has been obtained directly or by extension of category.

In the case of trips by individual athletes, they will have to achieve direct classification through a previous competition, such as the Island Championship, the Canary Islands Championship, etc.; achievement of the minimum mark necessary for participation in the aforementioned championship; and situation in the ranking that facilitates direct access to the aforementioned competition.

In both cases, if participation is by invitation or free participation (championships, open) the grant will be subject to the economic availability of the item, as well as the sports interest for the municipality.

The economic endowment foreseen for this call amounts to the total amount of 60,000 euros conditioned to the existence of adequate and sufficient credit for the year 2023, which may be distributed in four periods. In addition, grants may be awarded for an additional amount of 60,000.00 euros without the need for a new call and with certain requirements.
