The alley of Luis Hernández Fuentes "El Aguaresío" was filled with public on Monday night to attend the concert of the singer Beni Ferrer, who performed accompanied by the Trío Los Brujos, with Yarel Hernández on guitar, arrangements and musical production, Israel Curbelo on percussion and Zsolt Vcs on piano. This act of the San Ginés festivities had to be celebrated last Thursday, but it was suspended due to the terrorist attack in Barcelona and the City Council rescheduled it for this new date.
An hour before the concert, the public was occupying the 290 chairs and the rest until filling the capacity was standing. And they all enjoyed a mixture of the music of Macaronesia, Madeira and Cape Verde, with the Canary music. A large part of the songs chosen for this concert were composed by Beni's brother, Maxi Ferrer, with the musical arrangements by Yarel Hernández, and are inspired by Arrecife.
"Carmen la de las Bolsas", a neighbor who is part of the city's characters; "Memories of my Childhood", which transports to the past of Arrecife and its characters; El Velero, very linked to Arrecife as a marine city open to the sea; and Ameney Acoran, a song with Guanche dyes, were some of the themes that were heard.
Beni Ferrer, with her powerful voice and a very careful staging, managed to make the public enjoy and proof of this was that standing up they asked her to continue singing. Before continuing, she thanked the affection and applause that had been offered to her. "Arrecife is not the most beautiful city in the world but it has corners cared for and pampered by its neighbors like this one," she said addressing the public, and referring to the Callejón del Aguaresío, which manages to give magic to each event. Afterwards, Beni finished her concert performing a marine song by Amigos de Portonao entitled La Entrada a Portonao.
