The presence of a drone at the head of runway 03 of the César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport caused the paralysis of all operations at around 9:30 p.m. this Thursday, as reported by Air Controllers on their X profile.

For 40 minutes, planes could not land or take off at the aerodrome. In addition, during that period of time, inter-island takeoffs to Lanzarote were also kept on the ground.

The fines for this type of action range from 60 euros to 225,000 if it is a recreational use, although in case of being sanctioned, the offender should also pay compensation for material damages to third parties, not only the fine, according to the State Aviation Safety Agency (AESA).

In the case of professional use of the drone, the sanction would range from 4,500 euros to a whopping 4.5 million.
