San Bartolomé begins its festivities with a tribute to the ancient Guanches

The celebrations began last Friday, August 11, by Pilar Perdomo Ferrer, who was in charge of officiating the proclamation that meant the beginning of a few days dedicated to San Bartolomé. The soprano Belén Elvira accompanied Pilar Perdomo in this first act, with the musical performance that the singer offered to all those present.

Next, the municipality also began the Weñesmed Festival that the Council has included in its festive program. The Weñesmed pays tribute to the festival organized by the ancient Guanches, after harvesting the crop. For this, San Bartolomé staged this collection in the Rodríguez de la Fuente Park.

In addition, the Lanzarote municipality celebrated the Song Festival last Saturday, August 12, where Isabel Hernández Cabrera won first prize with the song "Oye Mar". Gloria Ester Sepúlveda was the second winner, thanks to her performance of the melody "Héroe". 18 singers participated in this festival, out of the 29 who submitted to the casting. In addition, Laura and her ballet África Ajei, and Oliver Morales, winner of the previous year's contest, enlivened this festival with various melodies.

Sunday, however, was dedicated to the little ones, as the Gala for the election of the Children's Queen of the Festivals was held. In this magical youth night the Burgaos group participated, where its 40 members offered all attendees a choreography that was characterized by Latin and rap rhythms. The Pasayo Pepón also performed at this Gala, bringing smiles to young and old, with his ingenious jokes and his comical performance.

Fun, rhythm, Canarian roots and musical spectacle will arrive this Monday from the famous artist Arístides Moreno, who is visiting the Lanzarote municipality. Moreno will offer everyone an entertaining recital, through his well-known lyrics. Although Arístides will not go on stage alone, but the night will also feature the performances of Rogelio Botanz and Tiritaña Reagee.
