La Tiñosa said goodbye to its festivities of Carmen this Sunday with a fireworks display that put an end to two weeks of events in honor of its patron saint. Before, the neighbors had enjoyed new dates with music and also the traditional land procession that toured the streets of the town.
The events of the last day of festivities began at noon, with the midday party and foam dances on the esplanade of the Guild. Afterwards, Los Lolas brought their rhythms to the square in an evening concert.
At 7:00 p.m., the sung mass took place in honor of the patron saint of Puerto del Carmen. The Marina Choir, which this year read the proclamation of the festivities, put its chamber touch during the Eucharist. Next, the image of the Virgin went out in a land procession through the interior streets of La Tiñosa. During several sections of the procession, the mayor of Tías, Pancho Hernández, and the deputy mayor, Amado Jesús Vizcaíno, were porters along with several neighbors who carried the image of the Virgin on their shoulders.
Before returning to her altar inside the church, Chago Melián performed his famous Ave María before the Virgin, accompanied by the chords of the Güerma Folk Group, which also made an offering with its dances and songs. The night concluded with a colorful fireworks display in the sky of La Tiñosa to put an end to the celebration of the festivities of Carmen, patron saint of the main tourist area of Lanzarote, which this year celebrates its 50th anniversary.
