The Carmen festivities came to an end this Sunday, with a fireworks display that could be seen from Chica beach, Pila de La Barrilla, El Poril and the port of La Tiñosa, where locals and tourists gathered. In this way, Puerto del Carmen put the finishing touch to the festivities and also to a day full of events, in what was the big day of the celebrations.
At 7:00 p.m. the land procession was held with the image of the Virgen del Carmen, in which the mayor and other councilors of the City Council participated. After the procession, and for the first time, the image of the Virgen del Carmen made a stop in the Plaza de El Varadero, where the Güerma folk group performed in her honor. In addition, the traditional maritime procession was also held the day before.
The night of festivities continued in the Plaza de El Varadero, where the Parranda El Frangollo provided the closing musical note. During Sunday midday, rhythm and dances were also present, with the concert by the group Los Lolas, which filled the square.
As night arrived, marked by a spectacular full moon, the sky of Puerto del Carmen was covered with a large fireworks display, which has returned to the program after the break of recent years due to the economic situation.
