The tourist town of Playa Blanca celebrated the Galician Literature Day this weekend, with locals and tourists enjoying the music and gastronomy of this region of Spain.
To the rhythm of bagpipe and drum music, the town enjoyed Saturday and Sunday, in the Plaza del Carmen, singing, dancing and tasting Galician empanadas and octopus prepared by Santi Barreiro, a chef from Pontevedra based in Playa Blanca for 12 years, who used more than 100 kilos of octopus to satisfy palates.
The participants also consumed 72 bottles of Albariño, 12 kilos of lacón con grelo, a traditional Galician dish, 15 kilos of clams marinera and 30 kilos of mussels, among other delicacies.
Children, adults and seniors fraternized "in a prevailing atmosphere of harmony", which also featured performances by the Algarabía Folk Group, invited from Vigo, and the Bagpipe Band of the Casa Galicia de Las Palmas. The Councilor for Festivities of Yaiza, Javier Camacho, appreciates "the participation and excellent work of the organizing team".
