A total of 93 people have reported a positive Covid in Lanzarote in a self-diagnosis test since last Friday, when the new website www.miautotestcovid.com was inaugurated. Through that page, any citizen can communicate that they have tested positive for coronavirus in a test purchased at a pharmacy.

In the overall computation of the Archipelago, the Ministry of Health has received a total of 1,973 notifications of positive coronavirus cases in these four days. With this measure, the Ministry aims to expedite the process of obtaining Temporary Disability (IT) due to Covid, while reducing pressure on the 900 112 061 line and direct consultations at health centers to report the case.

Of these 1,973 requests, 1,828 were people scheduled for follow-up and to initiate the IT procedures if needed, while the rest were sent an SMS to contact the 900 112 061 line for not meeting the requirements.

Of the 1,828 people scheduled, 1,021 are women and 807 are men, with an average age of 35.7 years. By Health Areas, the processed appointments are distributed as follows: 859 in Gran Canaria, 699 in Tenerife, 133 in Fuerteventura, 92 in Lanzarote, 37 in La Palma, seven in La Gomera, and one in El Hierro.

"This also streamlines the process of obtaining IT due to Covid, as the administrative management for the leave begins at the moment the positive coronavirus case is registered through this new digital tool," the Ministry states.

The use of this tool to communicate a positive case identified with a self-diagnosis test implies "a responsible declaration by the user of the veracity of this notification and the information included therein."

How it works

Once the citizen accesses www.miautotestcovid.com, they must fill out a form hosted on this website that collects five fields: health card number, secure verification code of the health card (CSV), mobile phone number to be called, whether or not they have symptoms, and whether or not they need sick leave.

Once the form is submitted, the data provided by the user is analyzed, and the case is referred to the corresponding agenda according to the circumstances of each patient to manage the leave or for medical follow-up.

If the patient meets the established requirements for automated leave, they will be given an appointment with the centralized team of doctors in charge of processing IT Covid for mild cases. If all these requirements are not met, they will be given an appointment in the Covid follow-up agenda to be attended by the staff in charge of these procedures.

In the event that any of the data provided by the patient is incorrect or not included in the databases of the Canarian Health Service, the user will receive an SMS indicating that they should call the free line 900 112 061 to carry out the procedure.
