Los Sabandeños in the Tías Wrestling Arena

The mayor of Tías, who excused the deputy mayor and councilor for Tourism and Culture Amado Vizcaíno at the press conference for being at the Fitur Fair in Madrid, highlighted that this year, within the festivities, TV Canaria will record its folklore program Noche de Taifas in Tías. And for the occasion, with the support of the City Council, the outstanding Canarian group Los Sabandeños will perform in the Ulpiano Rodríguez Pérez wrestling arena this Friday, January 25, at 8:30 p.m. Together with Los Sabandeños will be a selection of the most outstanding soloists on the island. These folk performances will be recorded by the Noche de Taifas program for later broadcast on TV Canaria.

Likewise, Mayor Pancho Hernández highlighted that this year, coinciding with the centenary of the Valbanera tragedy, where several sons of Tías and Lanzarote were traveling, a conference will be offered on this tragedy by Julio González Padrón, co-author of the centenary book Valbanera. The talk will be this Saturday, January 26, at 7:00 p.m. in the Indieras hall, in Tías.

Magic, humor and night of timple

The Councilor for Festivities and Sports, Francisco Javier Aparicio Betancort, detailed the more than 40 different proposals in these almost two weeks of festivities, where sports, folklore, music, traditions and shows are combined. On Tuesday night, January 29, the Tías Municipal Theater will host the show of the magician Joel, a figure of national projection for his discovery in a successful program on Tele 5.

On the night of Friday, February 1, the eve of the festivity of La Candelaria, will be the performance of the Canarian comedian Kike Pérez, moments before the great fireworks display. Pérez's performance will be in the tent installed in the Plaza de La Candelaria, next to the church, on a day where 'la fritura' will be organized, one of the traditions rooted in the programming of these patron saint festivities.

Together with the two days of processions where the images of La Candelaria and San Blas go out, respectively, on February 2 and 3, the festivities will conclude next Sunday, the 3rd, with a night dedicated to the Canarian timple with the performances of the most outstanding figures of the Canary Islands in the interpretation of this musical instrument linked to the music and history of the Canary Islands. Domingo Rodríguez 'El Colorao', Fabiola Socas or Ciro Corujo, from Lanzarote, will be some of the stars that will perform on this night of timples in an event promoted, within the festivities, by the Guágaro Musical Cultural Association.
