He and She, two anonymous characters, are tasked with creating a new play based on those written by Lope de Vega. To do this, they select at will and interpret fragments of different titles of the classic author. The condition they have to choose is that they deal with the love conflict. This is the start of Lope por Dos, the new play by the Canary company Morfema T, which will be performed on Thursday, March 9, at 9:00 p.m. at the Teatro de Tías.

Lope por Dos represents a new step in the trajectory chosen by Morfema T in recent years, where the revision of the classics of Spanish theater has been a constant. The director of the company, Ricardo del Castillo, has developed a line of research that consists of managing classic texts as a raw material that is mixed with its own material to create a new plot, pursuing a double objective: entertainment and promoting the enjoyment of Spanish classical literature.

The texts of "Lazarillo de Tormes" and "Cervantes, la biografía farsa", previous shows by the Morfema company that have already passed through the Island, are the result of this effort.

On this occasion, the author honored and reviewed is Lope de Vega.

Under the direction of Eduardo Bazo, and with a text by Ricardo del Castillo himself, who also plays one of the two characters together with the actress María Nexy Yánez, Lope por Dos becomes a very entertaining rereading of the work of the author of "Fuenteovejuna", "El comendador de Ocaña" or "El perro del Hortelano".

The play takes place in an imaginary place isolated in space and time. Our anonymous characters, He and She, have different points of view when selecting the material. He bets on comedy, humor, fantastic affairs, pure entertainment. She, on the other hand, prefers Tragedy, delving into the human soul, and has another concern, the role that women play in classical theater.

While the one and the other try to agree, on stage fragments of some of the most outstanding pieces of the considered best Spanish playwright of all time are revealed.

The organization of this representation is carried out by the Government of the Canary Islands through the company Canarias Cultura en Red, and the Education and Culture area of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, also with the collaboration of the Tías City Council.

The play will be staged on Thursday, March 9 at 9:00 p.m. at the Teatro de Tías. Tickets have already gone on sale at a price of 10 euros, and can be purchased at the CIC El Almacén and in the Culture Department of the Tías City Council.
