The children's musical "Pippi Longstocking", starring Marta Viera from Lanzarote, won three Réplica awards in the category of Best Scenography, Best Actress and Best Children's Show, within the framework of the fifth edition of the Réplica Theatre Awards. In a gala held on Thursday night at the Teatro Leal in La Laguna (Tenerife), the family production Pippi Longstocking, produced by Jab Iniciativas, won the highest number of awards, tied with the play "Porno Casero", by 2RC, in this edition where the best theatrical productions of 2013 are recognized.
The actress from Lanzarote, Marta Viera, has become the new star of Pippi Longstocking, managing to enchant children and focus the attention of an entire generation of adults moved by nostalgia. This Lanzarote native, with a degree in Dramatic Art, and with extensive training in singing, percussion and different variations of interpretation, shared the award with her castmates. "This work has allowed us to bring theater closer to the little ones, who are the ones who will write our future, and to remind the adults that the children we once were are still inside us, perhaps we should listen to them more often," she said.
From Jab Iniciativas, in charge of bringing to the stage this icon of Swedish literature turned into a classic of children's literature, the award was dedicated "to all those professionals, managers and politicians of culture who from any private or public sphere always have a positive attitude and seek solutions to offer society a cultural offer built from the Canary Islands and with the ability to make people believe that it is possible to dream".

In other categories, "Las Criadas", by Profetas de Mueble Bar, won the Réplica awards for Best Theatre Show and Costume Design. "Porno casero", by 2RC, awarded Rafael Rodríguez the award for Best Director, as well as José Padilla for Best Original Authorship, and Rafael Morán, Best Lighting. On the other hand, Maikol Hernández won in the category of Best Actor for "El Fanfarrón", by 2RC.
A play seen by thousands of people
The family show Pippi Longstocking, directed by José Carlos Campos and artistic direction by Miquel Agell, has already been seen by thousands of people on five islands: Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Lanzarote, La Palma and Fuerteventura. Recently, it sold out all tickets for its performances during Christmas at the Teatro Guiniguada.
The production, produced by Jab Iniciativas Culturales and with musical themes sung live, deals with the adventures of Pippi Longstocking or Pippi Langstrump, an independent, imaginative, rebellious girl with magical powers who lives with two animals and defends her right to freedom.
This production, which features seven actors/singers on stage, will be the only one that can be seen in Spain of the mythical character of Pippi Longstocking, based on the original libretto by its author Astrid Lindgren and the score made by Georg Riedel, both for the musical premiered in Sweden and for the cinema. The cast is completed by the performers Alexia Rodríguez, Jennifer Medina, Renzo Santana, Daniel Hernández, Mingo Ruano and José Carlos Campos, among others.
