Lanzarote records a fatal workplace accident and three serious ones in four months

In March, 277 incidents were reached in which the temporary work disability of the employee was necessary

Lanzarote has registered 755 workplace accidents so far this year, 0.07% less than in 2024. This is reflected in the data on workplace accidents that required sick leave on the island, compiled by the Lanzarote Data Center, through the Department of Tourism and Employment.

In the first four months of the year, March was the month that registered the highest number of accidents. In March, 277 incidents were reached in which the temporary work disability of the employee was necessary.

In addition, in the month of April there was a fatal workplace accident. Everything seems to indicate that it corresponds to the case of the 53-year-old man who died in an industrial warehouse in Arrecife and who was found inside a cold storage. According to police sources, after being examined by the doctor at the scene and the scientific police, he died of natural causes.

Meanwhile, in the first four months of the year, three serious incidents were recorded, 50% more than those that took place in the same period of 2024. All serious accidents occurred in the month of January.

Finally, the rest of the workplace accidents have been minor, up to 751 of the total and with a decrease of 0.07%.
