The General Directorate of Security and Emergencies of the Canary Islands Government has declared a pre-alert situation for haze and wind from this Thursday at 1:00 p.m. until further notice in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.
The Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium recommends that citizens take precautions to prevent this situation of adverse weather phenomena by keeping doors and windows closed, and avoiding going outside if they suffer from chronic respiratory diseases.
They also advise that they make sure they have their usual medication, drink plenty of fluids and avoid dry environments, as well as not doing severe physical exercise while this situation lasts. They also ask that if you feel unwell, go to your doctor.
The Security and Emergency Consortium reminds that in this haze situation visibility is considerably reduced, if you are driving, take extreme precautions, turn on the lights and reduce speed.
It is also recommended, in the face of the wind alert, to close doors and windows to avoid drafts and broken glass; remove objects that may fall from balconies; avoid excursions or camping and postpone road trips.
Citizens are also urged to stay away from the coast to avoid being hit or dragged by the action of the waves.
