Antonio Sangóo, a designer from Lanzarote, has already presented two collections for the competition organized by the German magazine "Linie Internacional". Last year he already received the award as a young talent. And according to him, an award like this is "a gift" because it means opening up to a larger market and advertising your creations in the magazine that organizes the event.
Sangóo says that one of the things that most caught the attention of his swimwear collection was that it innovated in cuts and fabrics, in addition to rescuing older, more artisanal motifs. Thus, in his winning collection you can see the vinyl fabric together with the lace from the beginning of the century. "I incorporate things that are not usually seen," says the designer.
The competition was organized by the German magazine in collaboration with IGEDO Company, an entity that organizes the largest fashion fairs in Germany and one of the largest in the world, the Igedo Fashion Fairs Dusseldorf. These include the CPD women's fashion fairs, the HMD men's fashion fair, the Body Look, for intimate fashion, lingerie and swimwear, and Global Fashion, aimed at making international contacts in the fashion business. 1,750 exhibitors from 44 countries have participated in them.
The Canary Islands designer Antonio Sangóo was selected, among many fashion creators for swimwear, as a finalist in the Linie First Look competition; convened by the magazine Die Linie and the Body Look fair, finally becoming the winner, thanks to his swimwear collection for men and women inspired by the "pin ups" of the 50s, with colorful, innovative and very original designs, where the craftsmanship that the designer himself incorporates into his collections stands out, such as ruffles or flowers of different materials made by hand.
This award confirms the importance of Spanish fashion in this Dusseldorf event, a leader in international pret-a-porter, in which Spanish brands such as Torras, Isabel de Pedro, Leyva, Rosalita McGee, Lenita XTG, Croissier, Roidal, Drap, Presen Rofriguez, PestiloDrago Textil and Elisa F. leave the banner of Spanish fashion very high.
