Lanzarote and La Graciosa rise to level two alert for Covid, as reported by the Executive's spokesperson, Julio Pérez, in the press conference after the Governing Council. This implies that if the Superior Court of Justice endorses the curfew requested by the Government of the Canary Islands, it would already affect the two islands.
El Hierro has also risen to Level 2, while the rest of the islands remain at the alert level they were at. Therefore, Lanzarote, La Graciosa, El Hierro, La Gomera and La Palma are at alert level 2, while Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria and Tenerife remain at level 3.
Pérez has also announced that this Wednesday the Canary Islands has added 4,810 new infections, this being the record of positives in one day throughout the pandemic. However, he stressed that the average hospitalization rate "does not grow too much", and that in the Intensive Care Units there is "less pressure" than in the enabled ward.
Julio Pérez also pointed out that the average age of infections oscillates "between 20 and 40 years old", and that there is a "very important proportion" of people who contract the virus and who are not vaccinated.
In addition, he also pointed out that the limitation of 10 people in meetings on December 31 and January 1 is maintained on all the islands, as it was limited on the 24th and 25th for the islands at level 2 and 3. However, the Governing Council did not establish the limitations for January 5 and 6, which will be discussed in future meetings.
