Lanzarote provisionally adds 5 new positive cases of covid in the last 24 hours, as reported in a press release by the Ministry of Health. The number of accumulated cases on the island amounts to 1,468.
Regarding the Canary Islands as a whole, the Ministry of Health provisionally notifies 165 new cases of COVID-19 coronavirus. The total number of accumulated cases in the Canary Islands is 23,103. In the last 24 hours, there have been no deaths due to COVID-19 in the Archipelago.
By islands, Tenerife adds 120 cases with a total of 10,541 accumulated cases. Gran Canaria Tenerife has 9,733 accumulated cases, 33 more than the previous day. Fuerteventura does not register new cases and has 941 accumulated. La Palma does not add new cases either and its accumulated cases remain at 222. La Gomera registers seven new cases, standing at 129 accumulated. For its part, El Hierro without new cases, maintains its accumulated cases at 69.
The Ministry of Health recalls that this data is provisional because, as indicated, the Coordinating Center for Alerts and Emergencies does not receive epidemiological information from the Autonomous Communities on weekends and holidays, so there will be no communication of complete data nor will the Grafcan website be updated on those days, but provisional data that will be reviewed and consolidated according to the protocols. The daily update will be active again on Monday, December 14.
Nursing Homes
Regarding the outbreak detected in the Cataleya nursing home, in Tenerife, the Ministry of Health reports that no new cases associated with this outbreak have been registered, which affects 32 residents and eleven workers, although 10 of the residents have had to be transferred to the University Hospital of the Canary Islands. The rest of the users remain in the center, which has been intervened by the HUC, which is responsible for adopting the appropriate actions to guarantee the health care and care of the residents.
With respect to the outbreak already reported in the Santa Rita nursing home, in Puerto de la Cruz, in the last hours two residents have been transferred to the University Hospital of the Canary Islands, where there are another 34 people admitted in preventive follow-up associated with this outbreak. This center is intervened by the University Hospital of La Candelaria for the adoption of appropriate measures to guarantee the health care and care of the residents.
