La Graciosa will become the first island with its entire target population immunized against Covid, according to the Lanzarote Council. As María Dolores Corujo explains, "the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has given authorization for the entire population of the island of La Graciosa, over 16 years of age, to be vaccinated, so that the Eighth Island will have its entire resident target population immunized by July 4."
In this way, the president is pleased with the possibility that the Canary Islands will soon have the first Island with 100% of its target population immunized and values the decision of the Ministry of Health "as a step forward for the safety of the residents of La Graciosa and for those of Lanzarote who must travel frequently to this island."
Dolores Corujo also highlights what "such positive news as this means for the economic and tourist recovery of the Eighth Island, so that visitors can, from July onwards, perceive La Graciosa as a safe destination, free of Covid-19."
It is expected that, to begin the procedure, the vials will arrive these days to begin administering them as soon as possible, so that the expected deadline for immunity is met.
In the case of Lanzarote, it is estimated that by July 11 the entire target population of the Island will have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while in early August it is expected that the entire group will have both doses administered. As for the Canary Islands, the goal is to reach that date with 70% of the target population immunized.
