The artisan Juan Brito, Favorite Son of the Island, will be in charge of inaugurating this year the festivities of Femés in honor of the patron saint of Lanzarote, San Marcial de Rubicón. Brito will read the proclamation in the emblematic hermitage of the town, at 8:00 p.m., thus beginning the celebrations, which include tradition, religious fervor, music, sports, gastronomy and "a host of activities prepared for the attending public to enjoy and fraternize."

After the proclamation, on Thursday afternoon the staging of a group of puppets and the presentation of the Rachel Thompson Dance School is planned. The activity will increase on the weekend, which will include, among other events, the play back of the elders of the municipality of Yaiza and the Dance and Parrandas Night enlivened by Los Salineros de la Hoya and Pal Porrón.

The 1st Gastronomic Encounter 'Des-tapa Femés' will also be held this year, which will take place on Saturday from 12:00 noon, as well as the IV San Marcial de Rubicón Mountain Race, also known as San Marcial Trail, an athletic event that will host the spectacular surroundings of the Los Ajaches Natural Monument and the town of Femés. The start will be at 3:00 p.m. for the children's category and at 5:00 p.m. for adults.

The celebration will continue after the awards ceremony with music by the rock bands Los Lola, Señor Natilla and Boulevard, in the tent in the square.

Sunday will be marked again by 'Des-tapa Femés' and by the performance in the same space of the group 'Si es tarde nos vamos', from the neighboring island of Fuerteventuera. At 8:30 p.m., neighbors from the host town will take to the stage to perform the play 'Galería Femés'. Then the III Edition of the Majo Jokes Meeting and Limpia and a verbena animated by the Perfect Combination Group will be held.

On July 7, the Great Day of San Marcial, there will be two masses in the morning and a solemn function and procession starting at 7:00 p.m. Next, the Rubicón Folkloric Group will perform and then the VIII Edition of the San Marcial de Rubicón Soloists Meeting will arrive, with guests of the stature of the Jovenes Cantadores, Parranda Janubio and soloists from the municipality of Yaiza. The closing of the festivities will be on Tuesday the 8th with the soccer match between singles and married men and the popular barbecue accompanied by the Parranda El Golpito.
