The Councilor for Social Services of the Island Council of Lanzarote, José María Espino, closed this Wednesday at noon in the Municipal Theater of San Bartolomé the Lanzarote 2004 Employment Workshops.

Espino recalled that this initiative was launched a year ago by the Canary Employment Service (SCE) of the Government of the Canary Islands, specifically from December 1, 2004.

40 students

A total of 40 students have been participating since then in the four disciplines divided into two modules: Rehabilitation of Historical and Cultural Heritage -in Haría-; Ecological Agriculture -in Teguise-; Tourist and Cultural Activities Informer -modality developed in San Bartolomé-; and Traditional Cuisine and Preparation of Preserves and Liqueurs -in Tinajo-.

In the closing ceremony, the acting mayor of San Bartolomé, Candelaria Ledesma, and Espino himself, accompanied by a technician from the SCE and the director of these Employment Workshops on the Island, presented the 40 students with their respective diplomas, which certify their attendance and active participation, thanking them for their dedication in the modules and hoping that they will serve them for a promising professional future.

Future entrepreneurs

For Soledad Monzón, director of the SCE in Lanzarote, the mission of these workshops is based on offering alternatives to the unemployed so that they can quickly integrate into the productive life of the Island.

According to the Councilor for Employment and Social Services of the Cabildo, José María Espino, the primary objective of the workshops was "to offer sufficient tools so that people lose their fear and become entrepreneurs".

The participants were delighted with the project and thanked the public administrations for the initiative, not only for the qualified training they received throughout this year, but also for the usefulness that this will have in their insertion into the labor market.

More in 2006

Soledad Monzón said that the Government of the Canary Islands will firmly support workshops for the unemployed and other programs with similar objectives for the coming year. Thus, she assured that she has practically ready the [program of activities to be developed in this field throughout 2006->http://www.lavozdelanzarote.com/article.php3?id_article=1135&var_recherche=teller+de+empleo].
