José Díaz, a leading figure in social activism in Lanzarote, passed away on Sunday afternoon at the age of 67. Díaz was always linked to many social demands on the island, such as the "No to Oil" campaign. Precisely, his social action led him to be a candidate for Izquierda Unida to the Senate in the last elections.

He was also linked to the world of sports, he was one of those responsible for the Lanzarote Veteran Futsal League and president of the Fútbol Sala Veteranos El Rebumbio team.

This Monday, February 25, the Word of God will be celebrated at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Insular Hospital.
