The Cabildo of Lanzarote has awarded the supply and installation of a fast charging point for electric vehicles in the parking lot of the Farmer's Monument, for a price of 55,715.97 euros. The company IBIL Gestor de Carga de Vehículo Eléctrico S.A. will be in charge of the work and has a maximum period of four months to execute it.

This public charging point will be added to those that the Cabildo is installing in El Bardo street in Arrieta (at the corner with Arco Iris street) and in Islas Canarias Avenue in Playa Blanca (in front of the bus station), which are expected to be operational in the current month of November.

The president of the first Island Corporation, Pedro San Ginés, points out that these actions, undertaken through the Area of Industry, Commerce, Consumption and Energy, and budgeted with a total amount close to 150,000 euros, are part of "the investments that the Cabildo is carrying out in the field of renewable energies, framed in the 'Lanzarote 2020 Strategy', which has among its main objectives to reduce as much as possible the dependence on fossil and polluting energies".

For his part, the area councillor, Manuel Cabrera, points out that "these charging points are located in strategic places in order to respond to the needs of electric vehicle users, as well as to promote their use among the population of the island".

On the other hand, the Cabildo of Lanzarote plans to install, charged to the project 'La Graciosa 100% Sustainable', a fourth charging point for electric vehicles in Caleta del Sebo, which will serve the two electric vehicles acquired by the first Island Corporation and transferred to the City Council of Teguise for use in the eighth island.
