"As a citizen of Lanzarote," said the president of the Lanzarote Corporation in his speech, "it represents an enormous satisfaction for me that Ildefonso Aguilar de la Rúa is joining the Royal Canarian Academy of Fine Arts as a full academician. In my role as president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, it is an honor to convey the satisfaction of an entire island, which today breathes pride in the important recognition that is given today to one of its most illustrious sons."
